”Creative Outburst” –Malaking Kalokohan!

Fashion designer Boyet Fajardo’s abusive behavior against two Duty Free Philippines employees last March 13 at the Duty Free Fiesta Mall outlet in Parañaque City was a result of ”creative outburst,” his spokesman said Tuesday.

“Figure of  speech ang kanyang ginawa eh. Bilang fashion designer, artist nga, ay minsan ay nagkakaroon ng mga creative outburst dahil na rin siguro sa pagod na nafi-feel niya ng mga panahon na iyon,” Ricky Rivera, the designer’s spokesman, told ABS-CBN’s morning show, “Umagang Kay Ganda.”

Fajardo got mad at two Duty Free employees after a cashier asked Fajardo to present an I.D. in support of the unsigned credit card he used. He reportedly said: “”Mga leche kayo! Hindi niyo ako kilala? Ako si Boyet Fajardo! At itong p…ina na babaeng ito (pointing to a lady supervisor) at ang baklang ito (pointing to the cashier) ay walang kwentang mga tao! I want them fired!!!”

Fajardo’s outburst was caught on Duty Free’s surveillance camera and uploaded on YouTube. It prompted negative reactions from bloggers, and an online boycott campaign of Fajardo’s RTW clothes was initiated.

Misinterpreted?

Rivera said Fajardo’s creative outburst, as shown in the YouTube video, could have been misinterpreted by the online petitioners.

He said that based on his conversation with Fajardo regarding the incident, the fashion designer and his two companions did not cuss at the employees.

Rivera said Fajardo was also misinterpreted in the scene where he was angrily pointing his finger at the cashier’s face.

He said the fashion designer was just explaining something to the cashier at the time.

He said everything could have been better understood if the video had audio so that the conversations could have been heard.

Apology, boycott

Rivera said Fajardo is willing to apologize for his “creative outburst.”

He said the fashion designer has already prepared an apology, but he has not been able to face the media since “he was truly affected” by the “traumatic experience.”

Rivera said Fajardo and his family are appealing to bloggers and the online petitioners to hear his side first before calling for a boycott of his RTWs. .

He said the online petitioners should consider Fajardo’s rising international status before pursuing the boycott.

“It’s sad because this happened when there are foreigners interested in bringing a Filipino brand abroad, in Switzerland, and United Arab Emirates, because his [Fajardo’s] creations are unique,” Rivera said.

Complaint

As a result of the incident, the Duty Free Employees’ Association went to the Commission on Human Rights to file a complaint against Fajardo.

Dennis Mallari, president of the Duty Free Employees’ Association, said Fajardo violated the dignity of their members.

Creative Outburst! – laking insulto naman sa aming creative community ang alibi mong yan. I would say na instead of hiding behind your spokesperson, just admit na lang yung mali nya at humingi ng tawad.

Kahit maging sikat sya at maging super popular at rich, di nya madadala yun sa after life. It’s always important for a person to put his feet on the ground and value other people regardless of their race, profession, status, name, etc. Mga tao tayo kaya dapat itrato natin mga kapwa natin na tao rin.

We know how this incident has hit Boyet, and I’m sure it did hit him A LOT… pero sana naman iacknowledge na lang nya ang pagkakamali nya at personally mag apologize sa taong binastos nya, and please stop making up excuses kasi it’ll just make things worse.

We pray for you Boyet na sana what happened to you will serve as a turning point in your life na di lahat ng bagay ay makukuha sa pera, kasikatan, kapangyarihan.

cashier

“Creative Outburst?” – this excuse only proves Boyet Fajardo’s contempt to other people especially those whose social class are lower than him which he thinks are dumb and idiots.

I don’t think he’s really sorry and apologetic for what has transpired, he’s just afraid that he’ll be going out-of-business.
